Perfume oils do not unfold their complexity when experienced directly from the bottle. If you attempt to gauge the aroma of a perfume oil by smelling it from the bottle, your experience will not be accurate.
Apply first to your pulse points (the inner wrists, the base of the throat, behind ear lobes, and the inner elbows.) where it will warm with your body heat to unfold the fragrance.
Perfume oil, unlike alcohol-based perfumes, wears closer to the skin. It warms on your body, adapts to your body chemistry, and creates a halo of scent on the body. As it fades, perfume oil can be applied throughout the day as a personal aromatic ritual.

Cathedral Noir Perfume Oil

Aroma palette is earthy, resinous, and smoky. Highlights include holy water, juniper and cedar incense smoke, melted candle wax, aged myrrh resin, lilies, and deep aged labdanum.
Cathedral Noir, is a profoundly dark and smoky fragrance, evoking the haunting imagery of long-forgotten prayers resonating within the dim recesses of an ancient cathedral. Commencing with thick, dense swirls of juniper and cedar incense smoke, it reveals a fleeting echo of the metallic essence of holy water as it moves deeper on the dry down. Unveiling further layers, it exposes remnants of old melted candle wax, lilies, big bowls of aged myrrh resin, labdanum, and subtle wisps of fire.
This is an immersive, dark fragrance that feels akin to unlocking a vial of age-old shadows. It's a shadowy through the rich veils of smoky incense, mature resins, and the eerie yet comforting obscurity of sacred places long abandoned to time.
Artist's note: The blend opens with a very pronounced smokiness, akin to a genuine bonfire aroma. Allow it a few minutes to unfurl on the skin to fully appreciate its diverse shades and nuances. This is the scent of scorched bark, glowing embers, and the hush of extinguished flame. Cade imparts its dry, ashen signature, tempered by resinous woods and a mineral shadow. It evokes the atmosphere of fire and smoke. If your frame of reference for smoke is strictly culinary, this may fall outside your lexicon.
Cathedral Noir is a fragrance composed of approximately 90% natural materials.
Everything about this perfume is exactly what I had hoped for. It smells incredible
Amorphous Perfumes have managed to capture the essence of an incense-smoke filled gothic cathedral. I think the name is a perfect choice as this perfume smell profoundly “noir”. I appreciate the “artist’s note” in the description, as I do find it to be true. At first, you will smell smoke, and a lot of it. But once the oil touches and dries in your skin, all the other nuances will start to peek through. The end result is an atmospheric vision of being inside a very dim, gloomy, gothic and vast cathedral that is hazy with smoke of many incense lit. The way it lingers in your skin is absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait to try Midnight Mass next and see how it compares!
This scent is absolutely amazing! My wife thoroughly enjoys it so far. When she has worn it, it very much gives off a scent of being in an old style cathedral ((True to its name)). I will stress that straight out of the bottle, it seems slightly bold, but as the product info says, you really just have to give it a minute to settle in and its just absolutely perfect!
it’s very incense like with the smell of frankincense, smokey and kinda piney but I think that’s the juniper. In my honest opinion this is a scent u would wear if u want to smell like u have been somewhere(think church), it’s not a scent that would naturally be on someone, but personally I like it, the scent lasts a long time and once it starts to dry down it turns into a really pleasant earthy smell( think flowers, soil, faded smoke, and trees). Once it drys down its a scent that could possibly smell like someone naturally.
My boyfriend bought me the Invisible Church collection for my birthday. 10/10 highly recommend. I makes me think of every new age shop I've ever been in and every spell I've ever worked.
