On Ritual Oils, Wearability, And Formulation

Most ritual oils are treated as primarily symbolic and functional objects alone, but I wanted my ritual oils to be able to live on the body as well. The ritual oil collection was created as a line of wearable body oils formulated with fine botanicals, perfumer’s materials, complete ingredient transparency, and skin-safety.

Ritual practice has always felt most meaningful to me when it is able to become embodied and physical. In addition to being used on altars or symbolically, I have always found magic in anointing the body with intention and integrating the power of scent into daily life through intention, atmosphere, and repetition.  This is the foundation of my ritual oil collection.

Each oil was created not only for traditional ritual purposes, but as a fully wearable body oil composed with the same level of care, formulation standards, and material consideration I bring to my perfumes. The materials are chosen not only for symbolism and traditional uses, but for the emotional environments they create when worn on the body. I have always felt that fragrance is such a wonderful companion to ritual and spellwork because it moves intention beyond symbolism and into lived sensory experience. To wear a fragrance is to carry an atmosphere, and by extension, an intention with you.

Because these oils are intended for anointing and personal ritual use, skin safety and transparency were essential priorities during development. Every formula is created within IFRA guidelines and with ingredient transparency, something I believe should be standard for products designed to come into contact with the skin.

Over the years, ritual oils have increasingly become aesthetic objects marketed through mysticism alone. I wanted to create something more grounded and intentional: ritual oils that feel sensorially rich, emotionally evocative, beautifully fragranced, and wearable as part of everyday life.

The result is a collection designed to exist at the intersection of ritual practice, perfumery, atmosphere, and personal adornment.
