Aroma palette is fruity and earthy. Highlights include grape and strawberry cotton candy, fog machine, oxidized steel tracks, old costumes, and damp concrete.
Inspired by a local house of horrors ride from the 1980s called The Castle Of Terror, this fragrance is an unusual blend of the sweet and the strange. Billowing clouds of grape and strawberry cotton candy are the heart of the fragrance, melded together with the haze of theatrical fog.
Beneath the sweetness at the forefront lies subtle traces of old oxidized steel tracks, damp concrete, and the worn fabric of old costumes and masks that absorbed years of performances. This is a contrast between playful confection and weathered industry. It’s a very “purple” fragrance with the cotton candy at the forefront and all of the other nuances dwelling subtly in the background.
That this pivots from grape into an almost confrontational powdery quality excites me.
This one is amazing as they always are. The grape is very front heavy and smells amazing. Once the grape cotton candy and sweet scent settles a bit, you can smell soil, concrete, and remnants of an old circus/carnival on the drydown. This is such a unique scent and I adore it. My husband loves it as well and says that it is addicting. Kalliope always outdoes herself with these unique holiday scents ❤️
A very purple fragrance. Grape is the first note, but not overpowering or cloying. Nostalgic and whimsical.
I love House of Apparitions. I wasn’t a big grape fan until this perfume. At first it smells like grape and candy. When it settles I smell cotton candy, What I love is it’s cotton candy without being too sweet on the dry down.
On first impressions when I applied this perfume I was instantly hit with artificial grape and as I continued the second thing I got was a slightly sickening mix of the concrete and steel. But I will say as I continued wearing it, it turns into a pleasant almost dryer sheet smell. I think this comes from the old costume note. It gives it a nice dusty, yet warm sun-baked smell. Occasionally it smells almost like grape cough syrup, but for me that adds to the spookiness and it’s very fleeting. I don’t get any strawberry or fog machine, but I’m not all too sure what the perfumer considers fog machines to smell like.
